GRAND PRIX URTI: Seven Winters in Teheran - Steffi Niederzoll

Germany - Westdeutscher Rundfunk

Tehran, July 2007: Reyhaneh Jabarri, 19, has a business meeting with a new client. When he tries to rape her, she stabs him in self-defense. Later that day, she is arrested for murder. Her trial results in a death penalty sentence. Thanks to personal and secretly recorded videos provided by Reyhaneh's family, their testimonies and the letters written by Reyhaneh in prison, the film retraces the fate of a woman who becomes a symbol of resistance and women's rights even beyond the borders of Iran.

Silver Medal: Away from Kabul - Cândida Pinto & Daniel Mota

Portugal - RTP

There is a country in the world that has banned a practice that is intrinsic to humanity, music. There is a country in the world that has banned girls from attending school. Afghanistan was plunged into silence when the Taliban came to power in the summer of 2021. "Music is my life, it's everything to me. When I think about living without music, I feel like I can't breathe," says Sevinch Majidi. Sevinch hasn't seen her family in Afghanistan for over two years. She studied at ANIM - Afghanistan National Institute of Music in Kabul. She now lives in northern Portugal and attends the Calouste Gulbenkian Music Conservatory in Braga, like many other Afghan students who had to flee Kabul. "I locked my violin in a room in Kabul to keep it safe, but I don't know what happened to it," confesses Al Sina Hotak.

Bronze Medal: The Jacket - Mathijs Poppe

Lebanon, Belgium, France, Netherlands - Lyon Capitale TV - Fulgurance and Mirage

A double portrait of Beirut and Jamal Hindawi (50), a Palestinian exile who begins a real journey in the Lebanese capital when he loses a jacket. It was the main prop for a political play he was directing. In despair, he sets off to find it in the streets of Beirut, a metropolis he knows little about and where he has never been able to find his place. He discovers a booming political context and a wrenching economic crisis. Now, where can he find his place in this social turmoil?

Martine Filippi Prize for DiscoveryAcacia - Milica Stojanov & Marina Zorić

Serbia - Public Service Media, Radio-Television of Vojvodina

Liberation through confession. Painful, difficult, not told until now, kept in spasm and finally spoken. Because everything we are, we have already cornered into those tormented beings of ours. We run around empty, tired, and worn out after the life that is slipping away little by little every day. We get lost in the piles of the same, sullen, estranged, alienated from humanity and we don't notice that loss, until the same life that we try to deceive corners us.  And shows us who is in the lead. Then everything falls. And everything we thought we had dissipated like a soap bubble in the sore eyes and when we close our eyes from the pain, only then... only then do we look at where we are actually. Into our own being, into our own soul. And then, perhaps, we discover the world around us that is just like the one we have forgotten it should be.

Digital Works Awards: Women of Science - Safia Kessas

Belgium- UER, Iota Production- RTBF, RAI, LRT, ORF, SWR, BBC Production

They are scientific researchers, mathematicians, tech leaders and engineers - women from the four corners of Europe. And in this documentary series, we’ll hear them tell their stories of how they got to where they are today. Did they overcome obstacles? Was it obvious? Did they fall for the magic potion of maths from childhood? Did their family play a role? In short, how do you become a female figure in STEM today?
Against the backdrop of these success stories, this series will also look at how women who came before them have been erased from the history of scientific progress: why have women scientists often been forgotten, or even robbed of their discoveries? Does this historical erasure of women still resonate in the careers of today’s women scientists? And how will these women in turn remain part of the history of science and the inventions that are changing our lives? This documentary series will criss-cross Europe to discover the most emblematic and inspiring profiles and projects. The film also relates some of the obstacles they have to overcome, such as the Mathilda effect, the Pygmalion effect, the Solo effect, etc.
