  • SILVER MEDAL: Cecilia, the missing who calls - Francisco Godinez Galay

Argentina - Centro de Producciones Radiofónicas

Cecilia Viñas was kidnapped by the military dictatorship in June 1977 along with her husband, Hugo Penino, when she was pregnant. Her family had no further information until six years after her arrest, when they received a phone call from her. Democracy had returned and she was still kidnapped by the military. To this day, Cecilia is still missing. Where was she? Why did they let her call? What happened to her? And to her son?

This 50minute traces the evolution of radio broadcast in Cameroon, stating how the radio gave life to major events in Cameroon from the time of its inception in Cameroon since the 1940s.This means that Cameroonians where able to follow up their independence on the radio, the plebiscite, the reunification and many other events. Radio has therefore been a great instrument of the historical development of the country. Today with well over 200 radio stations and proximity radio we cannot over emphasize the role radio has played in the lives of Cameroonians. In this documentary you will get the voices and testimonies of the pioneers of radio broadcast in Cameroon both technicians and journalists.

The power of words and sounds. Radio Miniatures gives you the chance to discover rare audios preserved in archives and to listen to personal memories, sounds and curiosities, anecdotes and testimonies in a choral setting. A 13-part series entitled ‘My Radio in Miniature’, in which each author focuses on his or her own radio station. A personal account that is sometimes intimate, sometimes light-hearted, institutional, poetic and disturbing, but always captivating and fascinating.
