The Jury, made up of managers from public televisions from Algeria, Belgium, Cameroon, Egypt, Kosovo, Portugal and Romania congratulate the winners of the 37th International URTI Grand Prix for Author’s Documentary:

Grand Prix: 2077 - 10 seconds to the Future

Portugal - RTP

Direction: António José de Almeida - 55 min

"The mind and the universe are the two largest mysteries of Nature."

The human brain has around 100 billion neurons, as many as the stars in the Milky Way. The human brain can do 10 quadrillions of calculations per second just like a computer as big as New York City. Yet, everything happens from the shoulders up.

The domain of space-time is the privilege of this small organ.

The human mind has an ability which distinguishes us from animals: the ability of projecting the future.

Silver Medal: Intimate battles

Mexico - IMCIME, Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía

Direction: Lucia Gaja - 87 min

Through five stories narrated in Spain, the United States, Finland, India and Mexico, Intimate battles follows the road of resilience and reinvention of the protagonists who survived domestic violence and conclude that love is not supposed to hurt and the home should be the safest place.

Bronze Medal: An Honest Death

Japan - NHK

Direction: Hiroki Sano - 50 min

This documentary began with an unusual request:

“Will you film everything about me until I die?”

Masahiro Tanaka was a palliative care doctor and a Buddhist priest. As an end-of-life specialist, he had helped thousands of patients die peacefully. Now, he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. One NHK crew set out to document what they imagined Tanaka would see as an ideal death. What they witnessed was quite different.

Martine Filippi Award for Discovery: My name is Nour

Egypt - Smart Vision

Direction: Haisam Abdlhamed - 14 min

Nour is a child who suffers from Down's syndrome.

She rebels the looks of the society and at the end she becomes a heroine.
